At Specialisterne, we know that neurodivergent women often face unique barriers when it comes to entering, re-entering, or progressing in the workforce. Many are overlooked, misunderstood, or under-supported in traditional career pathways. The result is not just lost opportunity for individuals, but also lost potential for employers and the wider community.

That’s why we are proud to announce the Return to Work Pathways Program, an initiative proudly sponsored by the NSW Government through the Women NSW initiative. Over the next two years, this program will create opportunities for neurodivergent women in NSW to build skills, confidence, and meaningful careers, while supporting employers to strengthen their neuroinclusive practices.

Why This Program Matters for Employers

For too long, the experiences of neurodivergent women have been misunderstood and underrepresented. Stigma, late or missed diagnoses, and rigid workplace expectations have prevented many from showcasing their strengths.

The Return to Work Pathways Program is designed to change that, by connecting employers with talented neurodivergent individuals who bring diverse perspectives, creative problem-solving skills, and fresh ideas that drive innovation.

Employers who embrace and foster neurodiversity benefit from:

  • Access to untapped talent pools that traditional hiring processes often overlook.

  • Improved team performance through diversity of thought and problem-solving approaches.

  • A stronger, more inclusive culture that supports all employees and boosts retention.

Designed With Lived Experience

The Return to Work Pathways Program has been co-designed with neurodivergent women to ensure it is practical, empowering, and responsive to real-world challenges. Their lived experience informs every part of the program, ensuring it meets the needs of both candidates and employers.

How Employers Benefit from Partnering

Inclusion doesn’t happen by accident, it requires intentional effort, training, and support. This program addresses both sides of the equation: empowering women to step into new opportunities and preparing organisations to welcome and nurture their talents.

As a partner in this program, your organisation will gain:

  • Direct connections to skilled neurodivergent candidates who are ready and motivated to contribute.

  • Education and awareness training on neurodiversity in the workplace for the hiring teams.

  • Support from Specialisterne’s neurodiversity experts, equipping your leaders and teams to create environments where neurodivergent women can thrive.

  • Guidance on building neuroinclusive practices that enhance recruitment, onboarding, and workplace culture.

This dual approach ensures participants are prepared to succeed and that your organisation is ready to support them.
