The Opening Doors Neurodiverse Program is a 12-month temporary employment
opportunity. The program has a unique structure providing participants with a
Career Development Manager to guide and support capability development and a
business manager supporting development of on-the-job technical knowledge
and skills. Participants will be actively supported and encouraged to apply for a
permanent position in future recruitment processes.

Location of roles:
The job roles are located in various locations, Adelaide, Albury, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne CBD, Newcastle or Penrith. Job Description
An APS4 IT Application Developer supports and undertakes a range of
technical and administrative tasks and activities to design, build, test and
maintain IT applications across the agency and involves work in the following
areas: Midrange, mainframe applications and CoTS products.
An APS4 IT Application Developer understands object-oriented design
principles and common design patterns. They communicate effectively across
a range of media types, using various styles to suit different audiences. They
work within multi-client/multi-vendor projects, stakeholders, workshops and
elicit requirements to assist in the creation of technical architecture
documentation.
They understand and embrace the agency's various ways of working and are
agile in their approach to collaboration and delivery of services.
Work Level Standard
An APS4 works under general direction and is accountable for undertaking a
range of moderately complex procedural, operational and administrative tasks
and activities, largely governed by established procedures and policies. This
may include research and analysis activities.
The APS4 will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the requirements of
the position, as well as the legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks
that underpin its tasks and activities. They may exercise some discretion with
respect to how legislation, precedents, procedures and guidelines are
interpreted and applied.
The APS4 is accountable for making decisions within defined parameters
relating to the area of responsibility, and on more complex issues under the
guidance of a more senior employee.
The APS4 is accountable to organise their own workflow and deliver results in
accordance with their work area and team plans. They may be responsible for
coaching and providing training for the newer and less experienced members
of a work team.
The APS4 will be required to communicate with and provide advice to a range
of stakeholders.
Duty Statement
Assist in the development lifecycle which may include analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and/or administrative tasks
Work collaboratively to monitor, support and resolve technical issues and provide advice to stakeholders
Adhere to all established processes, methodologies and procedures
Contribute to the development of technical solutions that are practical and meet design requirements
Perform tasks to resolve issues and maintain application procedures
Undertake research of current IT practices
Applicant eligibility requirements:
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must have a diagnosis of autism (includes Autism Spectrum Disorder; Asperger’s Syndrome; Autistic Disorder or PDD-NOS) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (includes ADD)
Must have proof of Australian Citizenship and agree to the Federal Government’s background checks
All candidates must be able to undergo a police check, and some will require a government clearance.
Must be able to participate in the Specialisterne Workshop and Assessment Centre process

Has experience in one or more of the following: - Net/C#, Xamarin, powershell, Java, Java Script, SQL Server, DB2, MongoDB, XML, HTML & CSS, JSON, TFS/Azure devops, R, Python, Angular and GiT or any other equivalent experience.
What is nice to have
Obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or have relatable real-world experience in same or similar fields.
Have practical and advanced experience assisting with the design, coding, verification, testing and refactor programs, scripts and integration software
Are interested in or have studied and understand the software development lifecycle, computer science, mathematics, statistics or coding, etc… at a relatively advanced level
Have a basic understanding of machine learning and unsupervised machine learning
